Our Proprietary Curriculum
After a decade of helping our students succeed on standardized tests, we have all the tools you need to help you raise your score, quickly and effortlessly.
“The creation of a thousand forests is in one acorn.” —Ralph Waldo Emerson
The SAT/ACT isn’t difficult because it’s predictable.
What if we told you that the test relies on a set of pretermined rules, tests a finite amount of information, and can be beat with consistent practice?
Let us show you how to crack the code.
The Tech Advantage
For test-takers opting for the SAT, there is particular advantage offered by the College Board: the TI-Nspire CX CAS graphing calculator. “CAS” stands for Computer Algebra System. The “Algebra” content domain of the SAT Math section comprises 35% of the score. Psst! Once we show you how to use this calculator the right way, you will never have to do any algebra on the SAT (you heard that right!)
The train our students, we use targeted worksheets and exercises to help you remember all the calculator functions available to you. But not only will you need to know those tools are there, you will also have to learn how to apply them to different types of questions. During in-session activities, we will show you how to take the test with your best buddy by your side.
Elements of Success
Every student is different. Our proprietary curriculum is powerful not only because we have studied the tests for so many years, but also because we are able to diagnose the true knowledge and skill gaps present at the heart of every mistake made on the test.
One mistake sets you back approximately 10–15 points on the SAT. So if you want to do the math, a score increase of 150 points can be achieved by only getting 15 more questions right than you otherwise would have.
But you would have to get them right consistently, with no exceptions. In order to achieve a true 10-point increase, you would have to understand a concept not 70%, not 85, not even 99%, but probably at least 120%.
At Harvard Tutors of Los Angeles, we target a student’s real weaknesses and get those areas resolved for good, through targeted practice and proprietary course material.
